I almost constantly wear boots (long and short) and occasionally ballet flats or sandals. I find most of the bunion friendly shoes aren’t for me as I wear mostly Gothic clothing and their very expensive! I wonder how many other people wear boots?

This article is so well researched for those of us with bunions. Lots of good information here. Thank you! With bunions, I’ve found a closed in shoe is especially challenging to wear that allows comfort. What works for me is the Skechers brand that is made out of a flex material – almost like a knit – for those closed in shoes. Their Go Walk line is so comfy for the times you are on your feet for a while – like shopping at Ikea for instance. Or actually taking a walk!

I have bunions but also have size 11-12au/us sized feet.
I have also found MOX which are a latex shoe. They mould to your foot, so no blisters abd no bunion pain.
No arch support is the only downfall.
At only $39AU a pair they are a bargain and I buy a few pairs each year and live in them.

-Sorel Wedge boots (a true god send worth every expensive penny!!)
-Crocs wedge sandals (hard to find but long lasting)
-Keen sandals for hot weather and outdoor activities (love uneek, strange but cool)
-skechers wedge sandals (beautiful and comfortable but not super durable)
After much trial and error of like a decade I found my go to shoes.I have wide feet which caused me to get a bunion at age 29. I thought I broke my foot the pain was so constantly excruciating. I am constantly on my feet, am fashionable, and am very short so I like ‘tall shoes’ so all of this was terrible news.
Thanks for the true to life article. The struggle between form and function. But it really is a (daily)thing! And I do live in leather block heeled boots.

I wear a tie spacer in my shoes that separates my big toe from my second toe. That’s because my bunion was causing a hammer toe on the 2nd toe. It realy helps relieve the pressure. Also, I avoid any seam or strap that will go across my bunion. Thank you for this article

I work in a small independent shoe shop in the U.K. and our customers find Reiker shoes very comfortable. We also sell heavenly feet which are a good price and wide fit. I personally would recommend a range called Waldlauffer which are orthotic shoes. They are wide fit, super comfy and have removable orthotic foot beds if you need to put your own in. They are a little more pricey but are worth every penny. Hope it helps if you are looking for alternatives.

In reply to beth b. That is Victoria Beckham. Known for her high heels so probably her pants are hemmed for heels. Perhaps she wore lower heeled shoes to be more comfortable on this day which made the pants a bit too long....

Beautifeel dress shoes: Definitely on the pricier side, but I swear by them based on comfort and style —is they are really durable. I got my first pair on sale and am so glad to have discovered them.

I have to say though, that the pants the woman in the photo (walking down the steps) are an accident waiting to happen. The length is too long and I can picture her heel getting caught. Not a good fashion idea.
